The United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) has selected Three Runs Plantation to host their Eventing Winter High Performance and Developing Rider Training Sessions scheduled for February 17-21, 2009, March 4-6, 2009 and March 17-19, 2009.
"We're delighted to have been invited by Three Runs Plantation to hold the training sessions at their magnificent facility and we're thrilled that they will be our host," said Ite O'Higgins, organizer.
US Eventing Chef d'Equipe and Technical Advisor, Captain Mark Phillips will coach the training sessions. Capt. Phillips recently renewed his commitment to the US program for four more years, ensuring the US remains on track for the 2010 Alitech FEI World Equestrian Games (WEG) and the 2012 Olympic Games in London. In 2010, for the first time since 1978, the US will have a chance to win a World Championship on their home soil in Lexington, KY.
"We look forward to the next quadrenium with Mark continuing in his integral place in the US eventing program," said David O'Conner, President of the USEF. "After mixed results at the 2008 Olympic Games, we are counting on Mark's expertise and determination to bring our team back to the medal podium both in Kentucky in 2010 and at the 2012 Olympic Games."
"I'm delighted to have renewed my contract with the USEF through the London 2012 Olympic Games," said Phillips. "Over the next four years I will work to refine the training program for our top riders and put significantly more effort into reaching out to new or future talent in our Development Program. We have exciting times ahead."
The riders for the USEF Developing Rider List were selected differently for 2009. This year 'Talent Spotters' (Derek di Grazia, Phillip Dutton, Becky Holder, Mike Huber, Kerry Milliken, Karen O'Conner, Mark Phillips, Kim Severson and Amy Tryon) reviewed 47 applications and nominations for the program. Athletes were placed on the list in one of two ways: 1) athletes could submit an application or 2) athletes were nominated through the talent spotter program created this fall by the Eventing High Performance Committee.
Three Runs Plantation is excited to host these prestigious events. If you have any questions or need further information, please contact us.
